Prior to Sage 100 Contractor (S100C), we did not really have a job costing system. Now that we have a job costing system that is fully integrated with our Receivables and Payables, we can produce reports that help us better understand our jobs. We have many, many jobs over the course of the year and a lot of them are small. With S100C, we can accurately track our costs and provide our clients with timely billing that reflects that. We like to produce budgets for larger jobs, and this gives us the feedback we need to make changes as we go if goals are not being met in specific operations.

I think the Syscon team is good at creating custom reports when we have specific needs that we want to understand. Since they understand S100C so well, the reports are created within the software in such a way that they don’t need to be revised whenever there are updates to S100C. I have had custom reports from prior consulting firms that had to be re-done whenever there was an S100C upgrade – it was a real headache and I don’t miss it!

S100C works really well for us. Once you learn how to use the software, it runs very smoothly, and we rarely have any problems with it. When we do have a problem, Syscon is usually able to diagnose and fix it pretty quickly. Furthermore, their thorough understanding of business accounting and finance was a real strong point during the implementation. You can be confident of their knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) as well as understanding unions and union benefits. As a union contractor with half a dozen unions, we needed a team that could set these up in our new system and work with the details of so many different union benefits.
