Syscon started in 1986. Cathy and Larry Wendt saw what the personal computer was about to do for small business, and they set out to help owners put it to work. Forty years later, we're still a family business, and we still pick up the phone when it rings.
Somewhere along the way we committed our craft to one industry: construction. Money that has to be wired out the door on time. Payroll that doesn't care that it's Monday. Jobs that finish, or don't, on the strength of how well the office and the field talk to each other. We learned that operational reality alongside our contractor clients, and we never left it.
For more than 30 of those years, that's meant Sage 100 Contractor, the accounting system formerly known as Master Builder — and today it also includes Acumatica Construction Edition for firms ready for a browser-native multi-entity cloud ERP. Across decades of implementations, we built software to close the gaps construction accountants kept running into: Over/Under Billing (WIP), Indirect Cost Allocation, Cost-to-Complete, and now Syscon One — our unified cloud application platform.
We also built field software from scratch: the FIT System, short for Field-Integrated Time. Hours, receipt photos, and GPS punches flow seamlessly from field phones into your back office for review and one-click Sage import, instead of riding in on a stack of Monday-morning paper tickets. That same engineering mindset powers the Power BI executive dashboards we build — turning raw job-cost tables into clear decisions.
In 2014, the next generation joined the business. Chris Wendt came on, took over software engineering, and pointed us toward what was coming: rearchitecting how Sage runs on SQL Server, building Syscon Galaxy to automate cloud infrastructure and security, standing up our Managed Cloud on Microsoft Azure, and launching Syscon One. We started in suburban Chicago; today Syscon is an Arizona company operating fully remote across all 50 states — uniting Managed IT, 24/7 cybersecurity, Managed Cloud, ERP consulting, proprietary construction software, Power BI, and practical AI consulting.
None of that changed what we are: a technology and software engineering partner built exclusively for contractors. We speak cost codes, over/under billings, prevailing wage by local, and Monday payroll — and we'd rather show you that we understand your business than tell you. We invest heavily in R&D so we can hand you capabilities that don't exist anywhere else, and we're still answering our own phones, live, 8 to 5 Central.
